WOMEN IN BIZ

 Why is it that more than 50% of all economics students at Swedish universities are women, but less than 8% climb as high as to CEO company board positions? 

We are five students from the Stockholm School of Economics that see this as a major societal issue that affects all aspects of Swedish life. We wish to create a powerful digital network for young women that wish to pursue a career in economics. On our politically independent platform, we create an opportunity for women to interact, inform and inspire each other in their quest for a leading career.

The idea came forward as a solution to homosociality, a social environment that encourages women to work against, rather than with, other successful women. This social climate is especially prevalent in the business world, and acts as an obstacle for women to reach high positions. Our main ambition is therefore to form strong networks between Swedish women before they enter the workforce.

Women In Biz exists on both Instagram and Facebook. Our main focus lies on our Facebook group, where we inform our members about the societal issues that remain as well as inspiring and creating interaction between women in a welcoming and open environment. 

Membership is available for all young women studying business and/or economics in Sweden.
